XI. Bootable Linux Distributions
For so many people, this is the meat and potatoes of what makes Linux such a flexible operating system. Access to a bootable CD drive and the ability to reboot the machine can now give us the power to run a fullfledged Linux box without the need toinstall. For those who have not seen this in action, the power you can get from a CDROM, or even a floppy disk is amazing. This is not a complete list, but the following bootable distributions can give you some idea of what’s available to you. There are many MANY more bootable distributions out there. Just do a Google search on “Linux bootable CD” for a sample.
