V. Editing with Vi

There are a number of terminal mode (non-GUI) editors available in Linux, includingemacsandvi. You could always use one of the available GUI text editors in Xwindow, but what if you are unable to start X? The benefitof learningvioremacsis your ability to use them from an xterm, a character terminal, or atelnet(usesshinstead!) session, etc. We will discussvihere. (I don't doemacs:-)). viin particular is useful, because you will find it on all versionsof Unix. Learnviand you should be able to edit a file on any Unix system.
